Turnaround Time

Requests which can be filled from the AHSL collection are processed within 48 hours (Monday-Friday). The Library's Catalog, can be consulted to determine whether an item is held at AHSL.

Requests that must be referred to another library take an average of 3 working days for articles and 10 working days for books.  Some items may be difficult to locate and may take weeks or even months to obtain.  It is advisable to always indicate the time frame in which you must have the material.

If an item is needed more quickly than the normal turnaround times outlined above, RUSH processing may be requested.  Additional charges apply (see cost).  For same day service, it is recommended that you call the Document Delivery office, (520) 626-6840 to determine if your deadline can be met.

Policies

Acceptable Use Policy

Requests submitted through DocOrder should be in support of University of Arizona academic and curricular needs.

Policy on Multiple DocOrder Requests

DocOrder submissions of over 25 requests at one time will result in slower than normal response times due to limited staffing. It is recommended that requests be prioritized and submitted in priority order. AHSL Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan Services will process multiple requests over time as quickly as possible but cannot guarantee rush delivery.

Copyright Fees

Copyright fees are applied when the library borrows more than 5 articles from one journal title in a year. Fees range from just a few dollars to over $100 for each article. AHSL will pay up to $25 in copyright fees. Any amount over $25 must be paid by the requester.

Fair Use Policy

DocOrder submissions that exceed what is acceptable under the Fair Use provisions will not be filled. Examples include: multiple articles from a single journal issue and a book chapter that exceeds 10% of the entire book.
